Question:
When trying to create a new User record I keep getting a 'Username is already taken' error message when I try to save. Why is this happening?
Answer:
Every intelligentcontract user must have a unique Username. If you have received this message it is because the Username has already been assigned to an existing User record. This could either be in your organisations account or some other Customers account.
Commonly email address are used as the Username this is very nearly always unique. However there may be an instance where this User has been previously created in your account and the User record subsequently Deleted or Archived. The system will validated against Deleted and Archived records as they can be restored back into the live account.
Check your Recycle Bin and Archive Vault to see if the old User record is there. If so, you can then either restore the old User record and reuse it or you can permanently delete the record out of the Recycle Bin or Archive Vault, you will then be free to create the new User record with that Username.
If you cannot find anything in the Recycle Bin or Archive Vault then please contact the helpdesk this may be a case where this User has previously tried to login and has created a Trail account by mistake, we will then be able to cancel the incorrect account and free up the Username for you.
